After 20 years raising kids and making inspirational jewelry for a living, I decided that I want to do more.
I find joy in connecting with people and hearing their stories. I've always had a knack for facing challenging situations with calm and focus.
And I have a deep respect for elders. When I read about the elder-care crisis that is impacting our country, I felt a strong need to do something to help.
I decided to become an end of life doula.
Spending time with my grandma Gladys during her last year on this earth is part of what brought me to this work. She was strong, graceful, patient, wise and funny (even when facing end of life).
She spent her entire life caring for others. It wasn't her vocation, it was just a normal part of life for her.
When I was a little girl, she would take me with her to care for my great grandmother. I know now that those early lessons were the foundation for me to learn to care for others with compassion.
Thank you Grandma!
